 FAQ's 

Are adjunct involved in PARs (Program Assessment Reports)?

At this time we have not required adjuncts to be involved in gathering data for PARS. However, if a department, or division wish to involve their adjunct faculty in the process there is no prohibition from doing this. 

Are adjunct involved in CWO’s (College Wide Outcomes)? 

At some point in the future, possibly spring 2018 adjuncts will be fully involved in assessment with CWO’s.  However, at this time the assessment team will be working to review with full time faculty the deployment of VALUE rubrics.   

What are the responsibilities again of faculty who have both AAS, and/or AAB degrees in their area, as well as transfer degrees?   Example- HMSV (associate of applied science) &  Social Work (associates of Arts).

These responsibilities will be discussed with your dean  Equity is one of the guiding principles of assessment at NCSC; thus at the point where transfer programs have 12 full-time enrolled students a joint decision can be made between the Liberal Arts Dean and the program faculty.  Remember all programs must have learning outcomes and some idea where they may assess those outcomes irrespective of numbers of students.  The question hinges on numbers of students per program/per class that will help us to balance the two sides of the assessment data struggle- Useful data/equity of workload.

 

I want to utilize data from FYEX, but realistically what would that look like, and how could I do it?

The professor for that course is willing to use her assignments in FYEX to gather data for PARS for any program. There are several ways this collaboration can be achieved.

1.      The faculty member in FYEX could share with all faculty via email the types of assignments deployed in FYEX and how they might relate to various outcomes that many of the programs measure- such as professionalism, or ethical reasoning. 

2.      A meeting can be set up where program faculty share with the FYEX faculty member their outcomes, and she decides if she has any assignment in her classes that fit that outcome.

3.      The same process can be used for the BIOL classes, PHYS classes. 

4.      Collaboration can then broaden – as we have already seen between MATH & HMSV, to include liberal arts faculty deploying extra CWO’s to help gain more data for themselves and the programs.

When are PARs Due?

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving break every year.

When are CWO’s due?

The end of every semester CWO data will be gathered. It is assumed that sometime during the semester you teach a course that the syllabi indicates assessment of a CWO, you will deploy the assessment in a minimum of 2 of your sections.​
